Welcome
The inspiration for my work has been derived from our constantly changing natural world that despite being compromised by global warming and the deterioration of the ozone layer never ceases to amaze me. Rather than trying to mirror nature I aim to express its essence and hope the viewer will through observation enter into the evocative mood of the painting.
I work on a number of paintings at once, this allows me to transfer strong elements and effective techniques from one piece to the other. Each multi layered rendering shares some details with the other work in the series that involves applying the paint in fluid, transparent glazes, the process of which allows the final image to evolve rather than be predetermined.
I now work from my studio at home in Northumberland experimenting with different materials and techniques which results in producing a constantly changing range of creative work. I have been influenced by the work of Gerhard Richter, Peter Doig, Keith Tyson, Anne Stahl and Mark Rothko.
